Solar has come a long way since 1919. Today, we are a modern sourcing and services company.
1919
The beginning of it all
Jacob L. Jørgensen - a young, visionary business man, saw how the industrialisation and electrification created a new need, and he founded the trade, import and wholesale company Nordisk Solar Compagni, which sold electricity meters and other electric components.
1958
End of production
The business area developed a great deal over the years. The company seized the possibilities that arose to expand. So, after producing radios for nearly 40 years, this production ceased in 1958 and Solar no longer manufactures products. Since then, Solar has entered several new business areas, including the offshore area and more heavy industrial components as well as telecommunication and network equipment. Later again, Solar introduced heating, plumbing and ventilation components to the product range.
Today
Sourcing & services
Today, we also offer a vast number of different services – all fitted to the specific needs of our customers. Thus, we define ourselves as a sourcing and services company. To follow this track, Solar acquired the Dutch integrated supply company, MAG45. MAG45’s integrated supply solutions let companies work with MAG45 and strategically manage sourcing, logistics and inventory of tail-spend material in partnership.
